Синтез традиционных и модернистских представлений о международной политике в «Рассуждении о нейтралитете (中立論 — Чунънимнон)» Ю Гильджуна (1885 г.)
The article presents an annotated translation of the 19th century Korean political thinker Yu Kilchun's work "Treatise on Neutrality (中立論)", and also studies the synthesis of traditional and modernist ideas about international politics in this work. "Treatise on neutrality" is one of the most important works of Yu Kilchun, but is generally neglected by Russian historiography. “Treatise” exhibits ingenuine juxtaposition of the Far Eastern traditional worldview (based on Confucian norms) and the western rationalist views on the international politics. The author perceives the norms of public (international) law and ritual as factors governing international relations, where ritual is of paramount importance. In his treatise Yu Kilchun offers an original justification of the nature of neutral status for Korea based on a specific synthesis of the international legal statuses of sovereign Belgium and Bulgaria, which was the vassal state of Turkey.
