The article analyses how language game and, in particular, pun help build the artistic system of the novel "Autumn" by Ali Smith. It is evident that the frequent usage of puns in the text of the novel reflects the main themes and problems of the novel's artistic world. In addition, it helps build the imagery and the characters in the novel.
