Шахимардан Ибрагимов о дипломатическом церемониале в русско-кокандских отношениях 1870-х годов

For several years Shahimardan Ibragimov (1841–1891) served under the Governor-General of Turkestan Konstantin P. von Kaufmann — first as an interpreter in his office, then as a diplomatic official. Basically, he was in charge of the foreign relations of the regional administration of Russian Turkestan. At the same time, Sh. Ibragimov was a historian and ethnographer who significantly contributed to the study of nomadic and settled peoples living on the territories that were part of Russian Turkestan. During his service, he paid much attention to the diplomatic ceremony and protocol used in the relations of the Russian administration with the rulers of the Central Asian khanates. This part of diplomatic work was described by Sh. Ibragimov very vividly and thoroughly. In this paper the information on the ceremonial and protocol in contacts of the Turkestan Region with the Khanate of Khoqand in 1872 is analyzed. The authors consider Sh. Ibragimov’s articles published in the Turkestan press, which are dedicated to the stay of the Russian diplomats at the court of Khudayar (1829–1886), the Khan of Khoqand, from the end of February to the beginning of March. Some materials of the unpublished diary of Shahimardan Ibragimov about the reception of the Khan’s son in Tashkent from the end of January to the middle of February, are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
