The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Towards the Development of Ultrafast Photodetectors Based on Graphene for the Next-generation Telecommunication Systems

P. 904–907.
I. A. Gayduchenko, An P., V. Belosevich, Rybin M., Kaurova N., Belkin M. E., G. N. Goltsman, Kovalyuk V.

Here, we report on our recent efforts to develop of a photodetector based on single-layer graphene two-terminal device on the sapphire substrate. Our detector operates at 1.55μm, which corresponds to the telecom window. We have demonstrated that our detector operates under zero bias conditions at room temperature, and the signal-to-noise ratio reaches 45dB. The measured frequency bandwidth reaches 20GHz and is limited by the available experimental equipment.

Dark Counts Studied with Spatial Resolution, IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity
Goltsman G., Александр С., IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity 2023 P. 1–5
We investigate dark counts in SNSPD with spatial resolution, using nanostrip-patterned devices with 50 Ohm matched coplanar waveguide - tapers. We found that the dark counts originate from one or several points along the strip, which we call 'weak points'. We found that the dark counts originating from different points can have different dependence of ...

Interlayer interaction, shear vibrational mode, and tribological properties of two-dimensional bilayers with a commensurate moiré pattern
Minkin A., Lebedeva I., Popov A. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2023 Vol. 108 No. 8 Article 085411
The potential energy surface (PES) of the interlayer interaction of infinite twisted bilayer graphene is calculated for a set of commensurate moiré patterns using the registry-dependent Kolmogorov-Crespi empirical potential. The calculated PESs have the same shape for all considered moiré patterns, and the unit cell size of the PESs is inversely related to the unit ...

High-Quality Graphene Using Boudouard Reaction
Grebenko A. K., Krasnikov D. V., Bubis A. et al., Advanced Science 2022 Vol. 9 No. 12 Article 2200217
Following the game-changing high-pressure CO (HiPco) process that established the first facile route toward large-scale production of single-walled carbon nanotubes, CO synthesis of cm-sized graphene crystals of ultra-high purity grown during tens of minutes is proposed. The Boudouard reaction serves for the first time to produce individual monolayer structures on the surface of a metal catalyst, thereby providing a chemical ...

Emergent Continuous Symmetry in Anisotropic Flexible Two-Dimensional Materials
Burmistrov I., Kachorovskii V. Y., Klug M. J. et al., Physical Review Letters 2022 Vol. 128 No. 9 Article 096101
We develop the theory of anomalous elasticity in two-dimensional flexible materials with orthorhombic crystal symmetry. Remarkably, in the universal region, where characteristic length scales are larger than the rather small Ginzburg scale ∼10  nm, these materials possess an infinite set of flat phases. These phases corresponds to a stable line of fixed points and are connected by ...

Graphene two terminal detector as THz mixer
Gazaliev A. S., Moskotin M. V., V V Belosevich et al., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2021 Vol. 2086 No. 1 Article 012054
The growing requirements for mobile communication networks (data transfer rates over 100 Gbps) makes it necessary to use carrier signal with a frequency of at least 100 GHz. This requires the development of cheap and broadband sub-terahertz (sub-THz) detectors. Here we report on our recent efforts toward the development of a heterodyne sub-THz detector based ...

Graphene-layer and graphene-nanoribbon FETs as THz detectors
Y E Matyushkin, I A Gayduchenko, M V M. et al., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2018 Vol. 1124 No. 5 Article 051054
We report on detection of sub-THz radiation (129-430 GHz) using graphene based asymmetric field-effect transistor (FET) structures with different channel geometry: monolayer graphene, graphene nanoribbons. In all devices types we observed the similar trends of response on sub-THz radiation. The response fell with increasing frequency at room temperature, but increased with increasing frequency at 77 ...

Optimal asymmetry of transistor-based terahertz detectors
Shabanov A., Moskotin M., Belosevich V. et al., Applied Physics Letters 2021 Vol. 119 No. 16 Article 163505
Detectors of terahertz radiation based on field-effect transistors (FETs) are among the most promising candidates for low-noise passive signal rectification both in imaging systems and wireless communications. However, it was not realized so far that geometric asymmetry of common FETs with respect to source-drain interchange is a strong objective to photovoltage harvesting. Here, we break ...

Strain‑induced quantum Hall phenomena of excitons in graphene
Berman O., Yurii E. Lozovik, Kezerashvili R. et al., Scientific Reports 2022 Vol. 12 Article 2950
We study direct and indirect pseudomagnetoexcitons, formed by an electron and a hole in the layers of gapped graphene under strain-induced gauge pseudomagnetic field. Since the strain-induced pseudomagnetic field acts on electrons and holes the same way, it occurs that the properties of single pseudomagnetoexcitons, their collective effects and phase diagram are cardinally different from ...

We study the interlayer pairing states in layered systems of two different 2d electronic subsystems, one with relativistic linear and the other with nonrelativistic parabolic spectrum. The complex order parameter of the paired state has a two-component structure. We investigate the pairing state formation on the mean-field level, determine the critical interaction strength and evaluate ...

Graphene nanoribbons with incorporated Co atoms: Optical spectrum and magnetic response
Chernov A., Pavel F., Obraztsova E. et al., AIP Conference Proceedings 2021 Vol. 2359 No. 1 Article 020003
Graphene nanoribbons are attracting much attention as a platform for optoelectronics. Properties of graphene nanoribbons depend on the width, edge type, edge atoms, etc. and can be significantly changed. Inducing magnetism to graphene nanoribbons would open up a new field for applications. In this work we study optical and magnetic properties of graphene nanoribbons with ...
