HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

The post-city, in the context of co-spatiality, is a meta-assemblage. Post-urban assemblage can be represented as a meta-geo-culture, whose local singularity turns out to be constantly transformed. The ontologies of post-urban geo-cultural assemblages (PUGCA) are reproduced as "floating" fields of the corresponding cartographies of the imagination. The post-city represents a pulsating cross-border of mobile settlement ...

А., Mitin I., Sharov G., Городские исследования и практики 2025 Т. 10 № 1 С. 38–49
The urban periphery, as opposed to the center, is characterized by a lack of symbolic capital, making it less attractive to residents and tourists. In this context, local identity, place images, and territorial brands are well represented and thoroughly studied in central districts with abundant symbolic capital but are lacking in peripheral areas. Defining the ...

Before the West: The Rise and Fall of Eastern World Orders
Asatryan G., Strategic Analysis 2025 Vol. 49 No. 1 P. 98–102
We can note the growing interest in researching so-called encounters in England and other countries of the Global West. In the academic milieu, such studies appear frequently and en masse. Parallelly, there is large-scale interest in the so-called rethinking history studies, created to expand horizons and refute and modify the postulates that have grown over the ...

Any literary text is an act of ontological development of new territories. Culture, being always local, can develop the same territories more than once in physical terms – based on the epoch of its development, as well as on the geo-cultural transformationsof these territories. The process of literary colonization means multiplication of geocultural processes, as ...

The geniuses of the place are an important and integral part of geoculture, in fact, its "engine". At the same time, the geniuses of the place work with the cultural ...
