Социология в Cингапуре 1960–1990-х гг.: «двойной мандат» социолога
The article examines the sociology of Singapore, mainly revealing the history and main directions of the formation of sociology - structural, institutional and cultural. Based on the analysis of publications, it is presented the period of the emergence and development of sociology until the end of the 1990s, the exogenous nature of sociology, the features of its institutionalization, the international character of emerging sociology and the connection with anthropology as the basic foundations are shown. It is considered the relationship of the sociology of Singapore with European and American sociology, as well as with specific empirical studies of the islanders' community. The analysis of the main directions of work of Singaporean sociologists is presented: development of theory, methodology and methods of sociological research; an overview of the current social space of sociological research; directions of implementation of research results. Conclusions are drawn about the cognitive significance of Singaporean sociology for analyzing trends in the development of world sociological science and about the unity of theory and practice in the activities of Singaporean sociologists as a double mandate characteristic of their work.
