Послеоперационная мозговая дисфункция в раннем и отсроченном послеоперационном периоде при каротидной эндартерэктомии
Госпитальная медицина: наука и практика. 2020. Т. 1. № 4. С. 5–10.
Changes in the cognitive status of patients after reconstructive operations in the basin of the carotid arteries are not a rare complication of the course of the early postoperative period, and may also have the character of delayed and persistent changes. Age-dependent neurodegenerative changes, which are essentially a natural sign of brain aging, can trigger the mechanisms of cognitive and behavioral changes that show signs of a significant deviation from the physiological norm during surgery. The factor of deterioration in the patient’s cognitive capabilities is a deterrent to perform operations, especially in patients of the older age group.

The paper is dedicated to the analysis of medico-biological data obtained during locomotor testing of astronauts. Accurate data interpretation plays a crucial role in locomotion system monitoring, prophylaxis of long-duration spaceflight negative effects and thus in the development of an autonomous medical support system for deep space expeditions. During the locomotor testing the astronaut changes ...

Communication deficits in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) involve impairments in both verbal and nonverbal domains, potentially associated with altered brain network connectivity related to language, attention, and social cognition systems. This study investigated functional connectivity patterns among the Default Mode Network (DMN), Salience Network (SN), Dorsal Attention Network (DAN), and Language Network (LN) in male children ...

Glioblastomas are the most prevalent primary brain tumors and are associated with a dramatically poor prognosis. Despite an intensive treatment approach, including maximal surgical tumor removal followed by radio- and chemotherapy, the median survival for glioblastoma patients has remained around 18 months for decades. Glioblastoma is distinguished by its highly complex mechanisms of immune evasion ...

Automated disease screening systems face challenges when applied to multi-class medical image analysis, particularly under severe class imbalance inherent in clinical datasets. Retinal fundus imaging enables non-invasive screening for multiple ocular and systemic diseases simultaneously, yet current automated systems typically assess risk for only a single pathology or a limited disease range. We developed a ...

This article introduces a new source for scholarly discussion on the history of Russian language, science, and culture in the late 17th century. Numerous Russian captions for engravings were discovered in a copy of the "Travnik" (Herbal) by the great Renaissance botanist and pharmacist Pietro Andrea Mattioli, published in Prague in German in 1563. In ...

Mammals from arid ecosystems face distinct physiological challenges: water scarcity and unpredictable food availability require the integration of energy storage, maintenance of water balance, and flexible switching between nutrients. Our previous study demonstrated lower fasting blood glucose levels in the desert rodent Acomys cahirinus (African spiny mouse), which also possesses a unique regenerative ability. The aim of ...

A global step in the fight against tobacco was the adoption of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in 2003, which includes the organization of monitoring of the prevalence of tobacco consumption. The main condition for monitoring is its organization based on representative surveys of the population and its individual groups, as well as ...

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) represent a promising technology for restoring lower limb motor functions and gait after stroke. The application of BCIs in this field is supported by a limited number of studies. The objective of the review was to systematically and critically evaluate the current evidence on the use of BCIs for lower limb function ...

High-dimensional tabular data are common in biomedical and clinical research, yet conventional machine learning methods often struggle in such settings due to data scarcity, feature redundancy, and limited generalization. In this study, we systematically evaluate Synolitic Graph Neural Networks (SGNNs), a framework that transforms high-dimensional samples into sample-specific graphs by training ensembles of low-dimensional pairwise ...

Background Cardiac fibrosis represents a significant health burden, with endothelial dysfunction and damaged
perivascular microenvironment increasingly recognized as key contributors to fibrotic remodeling. The urokinase
plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), a critical component of the urokinase system, plays a pivotal role in vascular
remodeling and fibrosis. While prior evidence indicates that uPAR deficiency leads to microvascular dysfunction and
perivascular fibrosis, ...

Background. The application of cortical and subcortical stimulation during awake craniotomy mitigates the risk of persistent postoperative speech deficits. However, the functions of some white matter pathways remain inadequately understood, particularly the frontal aslant tract (FAT) of the dominant hemisphere.

Motor imagery (MI) allows individuals to mentally simulate movements without execution, engaging neural pathways that overlap with those used during real actions. However, how imagery perspective influences corticospinal excitability across different effectors remains unclear. Using neuronavigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), we compared kinesthetic (KMI), first-person visual (VMI-1PP), and third-person visual (VMI-3PP) imagery of elbow flexion-extension ...
