Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Disentangling hybrid lattice, orbital, and spin dynamics in CoTiO3: Raman scattering in high magnetic fields
M. A. Prosnikov, Pisarev R. V., Christianen P. C., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2026 Vol. 113 No. 9 Article 094423
Rhombohedral CoTiO3 is a Dirac-type antiferromagnet with unique nodal magnetic dynamics, a strong Zeeman-phonon effect, and multiple spin-orbital excitations. The intricate interaction between these excitations makes it difficult to precisely understand its properties. We report the observation of strong spin-phonon coupling for several phonon modes, as well as the Zeeman splitting of the degenerate phonon modes with 𝐸𝑔 symmetry. ...

Raman fingerprints of ultrasmall nanodiamonds produced from adamantane
Kudryavtsev O., Bagramov R., Pasternak D. et al., Diamond and Related Materials 2023 Vol. 133 Article 109177
A new generation of nanodiamonds produced from hydrocarbons at high pressure has recently expanded the family of bottom-up-synthesis nanodiamonds. The first steps towards characterization of this nanomaterial allow us to suppose that more than one of its remarkable properties and applications will be demonstrated in the coming years. Here we report the Raman features of ultrasmall (2–5 nm) ...

Coupled-oscillator model for hybridized optical phonon modes in contacting nanosize particles and quantum dot molecules
Koniakhin S., Utesov O., Yashenkin A., Physical Review Research 2023 Vol. 5 No. 1 Article 013153
Modification of optical phonon spectra in contacting nonpolar nanoparticles compared to single particles is studied. Optical phonons in dielectric and semiconducting particles obey the Euclidean metric Klein-Fock-Gordon equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This equation is supposed to be solved numerically for manifolds of cojoined spheres. It is proposed to replace this problem with the simpler-to-solve ...

Crystallization of Niobium Alkali-Silicate Glasses Under Thermal Poling
Reshetov I., Zhurikhina V. V., Tagantsev D. et al., , in: IEEE International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Photonics (EExPolytech).: St. Petersburg: IEEE, 2021. Ch. 38 P. 161–163.
Crystallization of a Na 2 O-K 2 O-Nb 2 O 5 -SiO 2 glass under thermal poling and subsequent annealing was studied by Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. It was found that the poling and subsequent thermal treatment lead to partial crystallization of the poled region of the glass, which should be related with watering ...

Bench tests for microscopic theory of Raman scattering in powders of disordered nonpolar crystals: Nanodiamonds and beyond
Yashenkin A., Utesov O., Koniakhin S., Journal of Raman Spectroscopy 2021 Vol. 52 No. 11 P. 1847–1859
Recent Raman data on nanocrystallite arrays are revised within the microscopic theory for Raman peaks positions and broadening (linewidth). The theory combines the elasticity theory-like approach for optical phonons used in order to evaluate the Raman peaks structure and the Green's function method applied for the phonon lines broadening. These theories are supported by the atomistic calculations within the dynamical ...

Toward probing of the local electron–phonon interaction in small-molecule organic semiconductors with Raman spectroscopy
Nuraliev M., Parashchuk O., Tukachev N. et al., Journal of Chemical Physics 2020 Vol. 153 Article 174303
Electron–phonon interaction strongly affects and often limits charge transport in organic semiconductors (OSs). However, approaches to its experimental probing are still in their infancy. In this study, we probe the local electron–phonon interaction (quantified by the charge-transfer reorganization energy) in small-molecule OSs by means of Raman spectroscopy. Applying density functional theory calculations to four series ...

Модификация графена на медной сетке под действием фемтосекундного лазерного излучения: Исследование методом электронной дифракции и спектроскопии комбинационного рассеяния
Миронов Б. Н., Асеев С. А., Sokolik A. A. et al.,

Manifestation of quantum rotor orbital excitations in Raman spectra of Jahn-Teller crystal LaMnO3
Kugel K., Kovaleva N. N., Kusmartseva O. E. et al., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2017 Vol. 833 No. 1 P. 012005-1–012005-12
Materials, consisting of Jahn-Teller (JT) ions, such as cuprates and manganites, display many outstanding properties, including high temperature superconductivity and colossal magnetoresistance. There, the role of JT effect, although widely recognized, is still elusive. Here we show that these materials have vibronic excitations, related to local deformations rotating around JT ions in the dynamic limit, ...

The neutral excitations in two-dimensional electron systems (2DES) confined at MgZnO/ZnO heterojunc- tions were studied by a resonant inelastic light scattering (ILS) technique. At zero magnetic field the ILS spectra of intra- and intersubband collective excitations are detected in the wavelength range close to the ZnO direct band gap. The intersubband spectrum is represented by ...
