HSE Scientists Develop Method to Compress Large Language Models Without Losing Quality
Researchers from the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new compression method for large language models such as GPT and LLaMA that reduces their size by 25–36% without additional training or significant loss of accuracy. This is the first approach to use mathematical transformations—specifically, rotations of model weights—to make models more amenable to compression with structured matrices. The study results have been published in ACL Findings 2025. The code is available on GitHub.

Disentangling hybrid lattice, orbital, and spin dynamics in CoTiO3: Raman scattering in high magnetic fields
M. A. Prosnikov, Pisarev R. V., Christianen P. C., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2026 Vol. 113 No. 9 Article 094423
Rhombohedral CoTiO3 is a Dirac-type antiferromagnet with unique nodal magnetic dynamics, a strong Zeeman-phonon effect, and multiple spin-orbital excitations. The intricate interaction between these excitations makes it difficult to precisely understand its properties. We report the observation of strong spin-phonon coupling for several phonon modes, as well as the Zeeman splitting of the degenerate phonon modes with 𝐸𝑔 symmetry. ...

Rare Earth Oxohydroxyglycinates: the Possible Missing Link between Rare Earth Oxides and Hydroxides
Baranchikov A., Teplonogova M., Kozlova A. et al., European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry 2026 P. 1–12
Rare earth oxides (RE2O3) were found to react with glycine in an aqueous medium at rather low temperatures (60°С–120°С), forming rare earth oxohydroxyglycinates, RE2O(OH)3(NH2CH2COO)·H2O, with a previously unknown crystal structure. The structure of the europium oxohydroxyglycinate was determined using powder X-ray diffraction. Its layered structure and ability for anion exchange under mild conditions, namely the ...
