This anthology dedicated to the publicist, translator, editor and literary journalist Nikolai Nikolaevich Strakhov, covers the philosophical and journalistic heritage of the philosopher. The book presents the image of Strakhov in historical and contemporary scientific context. The anthology presents both fragments of texts by the philosopher himself and extracts from memoirs, essays, epistolary "confessions" by his contemporaries and interpreters - Leo Tolstoy, A. A. Fet, N. N. Grot, etc. The section relating to the philosopher's existential-historical dispute with Soloviev over the theory of N. I. Danilevsky are of almost detective interest. The text has section about infamous absentminded conflict with F. M. Dostoevsky within the "frontier kinds of literature". In the final section Strakhov presents as a metaphysician, a scholar and at the same time a religious man.
