Reminiscences literature treats to intermediate genres, which combines the freedom of expression with the lack of freedom of factual material. The novel is a memory of V.S. Baevsky's “Novel of One Life” contains autobiographical accuracy framed by an artistic device. One of the techniques used by the author is a literary dream.

The first chapter of the novel “Dreams of My Childhood” is a oneiric text containing five literary dreams. Each oneiric text is an independent story from the author’s life, while all dreams as a whole reflect the evolution of the author’s perception of the reality surrounding him and his attitude to it. The peculiarity of the “biographical dream” in Baevsky’s “One Life Romance” is that a dream is a memory of a distant childhood, and the time interval between the author’s reality and his past is so long that the events that once occurred are represented by dreams. The leitmotif of all the dreams of the first chapter of the “Roman” is the author’s question, addressed both to the reader and to the narrative “I”: “Could I have dreamed all this?” Oneiric texts in the novel by V.S. Baevsky represent a special form of memory in memoirs, which is based on a metaphor. Such use of sleep as a technique is not frequency and we have not encountered in the oneiric texts of other authors.
