The physical culture and sports complex "Ready for labor and defense of the USSR" played a huge role in the formation and development of the Soviet system of sports and Patriotic education. The GTO complex was approved by the all-Union Council of physical culture under the CEC of the USSR on March 11, 1931. Since its inception, its main goal has been to increase the level of physical education and mobilization readiness of Soviet citizens, especially the younger generation.
