Создавая общества контроля: Норберт Элиас и Антон Макаренко в 1930-е годы
For a long time, Anton Makarenko has been acknowledged as a habitual and conventional figure in studies in history of Soviet children's literature and Soviet pedagogy, and in recent period, in a history of ideologies. However, his works are worth considering within a context of history of intellectuals and history of ideas, and not only limited with the Soviet issues and not only limited with a problem of influences made by Makarenko or received by him. Such revisiting can help to discern the features of his sociological imagination, if using a term by Ch. Wright Mills. This article is focused on comparison of the works of Makarenko and famous German sociologist Norbert Elias written in the second half of the 1930s. There are unpredictably many parallels between their descriptions of role of self-disciplining in the process of civilization.
