Hidden quotation is one of the favorite techniques in European postmodernist art. However, hidden quotation is a rather widespread phenomenon in the Far Eastern literature, in particular, in the works of Vietnamese authors. This literary device originated in the Far Eastern countries under the influence of Confucian education. Hidden quotation presents a serious difficulty for the translators of literary works. The article presents ways of solving this problem.
