Data concerning the dynamics of EEG in women during the reproductive period of life are very few and scattered, which is probably due to the lack of consideration of the stages of OMC (ovarian-menstrual cycle) in studies of this kind. Therefore, the purpose of work: study of changes in amplitude, power frequency and index EEG of female individuals during the reproductive period of ontogenesis taking into account the term of OMC.

EEG recordings are often affected by the loss or corruption of individual channels due to electrode detachment, poor scalp contact, or external interference. Such channels must be accurately reconstructed before further analysis. In this study, we investigate Next-Generation Reservoir Computing (NG-RC) as a data-driven approach for reconstructing corrupted EEG channels and compare its performance with ...

Musical training has a significant impact on brain organization, leading to functional and structural
adaptations that enhance auditory, visual, motor, and cognitive processes. This study investigates how
extensive musical training shapes functional brain connectivity by comparing professional musicians and
non-musicians. Using EEG phase-locking value (PLV) analysis, we examined neural synchronization across
alpha, beta, and gamma frequency ranges during music ...

Meditation offers a naturalistic paradigm for studying introspection, yet the neural dynamics of advanced tantric practices remain largely unexplored. Buddhist Highest Yoga Tantra (BHYT) comprises a sequence of eight dissolution stages culminating in the “clear light” state. We recorded EEG during eyes-closed BHYT meditation performed in monasteries and hermitages (51 sessions from 36 male practitioners; ...

Individuals raised in institutionalized care settings are more likely to demonstrate developmental deficits than those raised in biological families. One domain that is vulnerable to the impoverished environments characteristic of some institutionalized care facilities is language development. We used EEG to assess ERPs and source-localized event-related spectral perturbations (ERSPs) associated with semantic processing at different levels of picture-word conflict and low ...

Anxiety, characterized by pervasive feelings of nervousness and worry, may differentially impact cognitive problem-solving across various domains, including spatial and social contexts. This study investigates the relationship between distinct types of anxiety and cognitive performance, aiming to elucidate the underlying neural mechanisms involved. Sixty participants (54 females, Mage = 22.46, SD = 4.50; 6 males, ...

Introduction. Video games constitute a special form of digital media characterized by dynamic environments that respond to players’ actions and integrated algorithms. Within psychological research, video games offer better validity compared to traditional automated assessment systems, enabling a naturalistic investigation of various phenomena. Furthermore, video games shape mental processes. These features are widely exploited in international psychological research and are critical ...

The work investigates spatial and temporal EEG patterns during real and imagined execution of hand reaching. Six independent sources of electrical activity were identified in the EEG recordings. The sources corresponded to the premotor areas, supplementary motor area, primary motor areas, and posterior parietal cortex. Their activation patterns in the alpha and beta range were ...

There is a need for empirical indicators that can monitor subtle changes in wakefulness levels with high temporal resolution. We aimed to assess the applicability in this regard of several indices based on the average spectral power of EEG rhythms, as well as the BIS index used in anesthesiology. 26 volunteers participated in an experiment involving forced awakenings ...

Background: This study presents a novel paradigm termed Contrasting Routines Affecting Bereitschaftspotential (C.R.A.B.), designed to analyze readiness potential (RP) waveforms preceding movements across varying experimental settings. This paradigm continues Libet's work on decision-making, with an emphasis on the motor planning component like in classical Libet experiment. However, existing paradigms for studying RP work poorly across ages ...

Typing is a multi-level process involving executive and motor functions. Due to its hierarchical organization, it becomes possible to study the psychophysiological features of higher mental functions in the natural environment by analyzing automated motor activity. The purpose of this work is to identify psychophysiological correlates of executive functions through computer typing. This study presents ...

At least two cognitive strategies are used for new word learning: fast mapping (FM) via context-dependent inference and explicit encoding (EE) via direct instruction. However, these distinctions remain debated and the neural dynamics underpinning these processes are poorly understood. To tackle this, we designed a paradigm presenting 20 new spoken words in association with pictures in either FM or EE settings, ...

Introduction. High levels of anxiety are often associated with abnormal activity in the brain areas involved in emotional processing, cognitive control, and reduced connectivity in the default mode network (DMN). Studies also show that the activation of the DMN increases during self-reflection processes, especially positive self-reference, suggesting the possibility of using self-reflection to reduce anxiety. ...
