Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Tsyklinskaya A. M., Polivanovskaia D. A., Grammatikova N. E. et al., Reactive and Functional Polymers 2024 Vol. 205 Article 106099
For the first time, a pronounced biocidal activity of modified polymers with a porphyrin content of 21.4 μM (0.002 wt%) against Staphylococcus aureus was demonstrated. In order to develop new biocidal polymer coatings, a study was carried out on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and porphyrin-modified oligomeric diamine systems. The study investigated the solubility of porphyrins in ...

Emergence of an Auxin Sensing Domain in Plant-Associated Bacteria
Gavira J. A., Rico-Jiménez M., Ortega A. et al., mBio 2023 Vol. 14 No. 1 Article e03363-22
Bacteria have evolved a sophisticated array of signal transduction systems that allow them to adapt their physiology and metabolism to changing environmental conditions. Typically, these systems recognize signals through dedicated ligand binding domains (LBDs) to ultimately trigger a diversity of physiological responses. Nonetheless, an increasing number of reports reveal that signal transduction receptors also bind ...

Bershatsky Y., Kuznetsov A., Idiatullina A. et al., International Journal of Molecular Sciences 2023 Vol. 24 No. 4 Article 3906
Human InsR, IGF1R, and IRR receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK) of the insulin receptor subfamily play an important role in signaling pathways for a wide range of physiological processes and are directly associated with many pathologies, including neurodegenerative diseases. The disulfide-linked dimeric structure of these receptors is unique among RTKs. Sharing high sequence and structure homology, the receptors differ dramatically ...

Although water contamination with drug residues is a threat to public health, there are currently barely any effective methods of purifying water from pharmaceutical substances. In this study, continuous-flow sonoplasma treatment was used for the complete degradation of tetracycline and ciprofloxacin in polluted municipal water. The addition of CeO2 nanoparticles as catalysts significantly increased the degradation ...

We report the synthesis and antibacterial activities of a series of amphiphilic membrane-active peptides composed, in part, of various non-genetically coded hydrophobic amino acids. Lead cyclic peptides, 8C and 9C, showed broad-spectrum activity against drug-resistant Gram-positive (MIC=1.5-6.2 µg/mL) and Gram-negative (MIC=12.5-25 µg/mL) bacteria. Cytotoxicity study showed the predominant lethal action of the peptides against bacteria ...
