AI Users Earn Up to 41.8% More Than Non-Users
Research conducted by economists at HSE University has revealed a significant correlation between the regular use of GenAI in the workplace and higher pay among Russian employees. The study found that individuals who frequently use GenAI in their professional activities earn notably more than those who reject these new tools or resort to them occasionally. The salary premium for highly qualified specialists reaches 41.8%. The article was published in the Voprosy Ekonomiki journal.

‘Feedback and Constructive Criticism Are Essential in Our Profession
Vincent Fardeau, Associate Professor at HSE ICEF, has reached a major career milestone: he recently published his paper ‘Asymmetric Thin Markets’ in the Journal of Financial Economics, successfully passed his major academic review, and received tenure. In this interview, Vincent discusses the story behind the paper, explains the concept of asymmetric thin markets, and shares his advice for young scholars aiming to publish in top-tier journals.

Personal Interest in Doctoral Thesis Topic Most Important for Confidence in Successful Defence
A researcher at HSE University analysed data on 1,539 doctoral students from 161 Russian universities to identify which features of a thesis topic are associated with academic success and engagement. The most important factor was found to be personal interest in the research topic, which was associated with almost all key aspects of doctoral programme experience—from engaging with the academic supervisor to research activity and confidence about successfully defending the thesis. The findings have been published in Higher Education.

Anisotropic Superfluidity in a Weakly Interacting Condensate of Quasi-2D Photons
Voronova N., Yurii E. Lozovik, , in: Proceedings of 34th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors (ICPS) "Advances in Physics of Semiconductors".: Weinheim: Wiley-VCH, 2019. P. 1800431-1–1800431-8.
The anisotropic superfluidity in a weakly interacting two‐dimensional Bose gas of photons in a dye‐filled optical microcavity is investigated, taking into account the dependence of the photon effective mass on the in‐plane coordinate. With the use of the generalized Gross–Pitaevskii equation and the Bogoliubov approach, it is shown that the modulation of the microcavity width ...

Методы детектирования взрывоопасных концентраций водорода: сравнительный анализ и преимущества оптических сенсоров
Кузьминых И. О., Kuzin A., Флоря И.

Single-Ion Magnetism of the [DyIII(hfac)4]− Anions in the Crystalline Semiconductor {TSeT1.5}●+[DyIII(hfac)4]− Containing Weakly Dimerized Stacks of Tetraselenatetracene
Flakina A., Nazarov D., Faraonov M. et al., International Journal of Molecular Sciences 2024 Т. 25 № 25 С. 8068
The oxidation of tetraselenatetracene (TSeT) by tetracyanoquinodimethane in the presence of dysprosium(III) tris(hexafluoroacetylacetonate), DyIII(hfac)3, produces black crystals of {TSeT1.5}●+[DyIII(hfac)4]− (1) salt, which combines conducting and magnetic sublattices. It contains one-dimensional stacks composed of partially oxidized TSeT molecules (formal averaged charge is +2/3). Dimers and monomers can be outlined within these stacks with charge and spin ...

The results of the study of the optical properties of low-density InGaPAs quantum dots, as well as the effect of low temperatures and thermal annealing parameters on their optical and structural properties were presented. InGaPAs quantum dots were formed by substituting phosphorus with arsenic in InGaP layer directly during epitaxial growth. The optical properties of ...

Hydrogenation-controlled band engineering of dumbbell graphene
Song Y., Chen M., Xie X. et al., Nano Energy 2024 Vol. 127 Article 109763
The stability of the dumbbell structure has been confirmed by previous theory and experiment. Based on first-principles calculations, we proposed hexagonal dumbbell graphene (HDB C10) and rectangular dumbbell graphene (RDB C10) monolayers containing periodically raised C (CR) atoms. They turn out to have high mobility semiconductor properties. By adsorbing H atoms on these CR atoms, ...

Lack of Photon Antibunching Supports Supertrap Model of Photoluminescence Blinking in Perovskite Sub‐Micrometer Crystals
Eremchev I., Li J., Naumov A. et al., Advanced Optical Materials 2020 Vol. 9 No. 3
Antibunching effect is typically observed in individual systems possessing photoluminescence (PL) blinking and vice versa. Contrary to this common perception, absence of antibunching in strongly blinking methyl ammonium led tri-iodide (MAPbl3) perovskite crystals of sizes from tens to hundreds of nanometers regardless of the excitation power density is observed. Antibunching effect does not appear even ...

Trion Induced photoluminescence of a doped MoS2 monolayer
Zhumagulov Y., Vagov A., Gulevich D. et al., Journal of Chemical Physics 2020 Vol. 153 No. 4 Article 044132
We demonstrate that the temperature and doping dependencies of the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of a doped MoS2 monolayer have several peculiar characteristics defined by the trion radiative decay. While only zero-momentum exciton states are coupled to light, radiative recombination of non-zero momentum trions is also allowed. This leads to an asymmetric broadening of the trion spectral ...

Three-particle states and brightening of intervalley excitons in a doped MoS2 monolayer
Zhumagulov Y., Vagov A., Senkevich N. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2020 Vol. 101 No. 24 Article 245433
Optical spectra of two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) are influenced by complex multiparticle excitonic states. Their theoretical analysis requires solving the many-body problem, which in most cases, is prohibitively complicated. In this work, we calculate the optical spectra by exact diagonalization of the three-particle Hamiltonian within the Tamm-Dancoff approximation where the doping effects are accounted for ...

Tailored-Potential Semiconductor Quantum Nanostructures Grown in Inverted Pyramids
Lazarev M., Infoscience EPFL 2019 P. 1–163
We have focused on the ability to tune the aluminum (Al) content of the AlGaAs alloy along the growth direction in inverted pyramids (by MOVPE), thus tailoring the potential along a QWR nanostructure. Three parabolic-potential QDs (PQDs) of different potential gradients have thus been realized. The parabolic profiles were changed systematically by fixing the minimum ...
