Author is presenting the boundaries of trade union freedom in Russia. The research of Russian provisions and case-laws looks at the implementation of the right of association, the prohibition of discrimination on the ground of trade union membership, the guaranties of equal rights of unions. Starting from a brief historical review of trade unionism in Russia and showing a specific role played by unions in the Soviet Union, author also arise the current issues of lack of independency of trade unions in Russia. She provides examples proving that union’s activity aim at protection of employees’ rights can be recognized in Russia as extremism or foreign agent’s acting.
