HSE Researchers Show How Congenital Motor Disorders Affect Brain Development
Researchers from HSE University’s Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience have synthesised the findings of their previous studies on brain development in children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy and arthrogryposis. Their analysis shows that impaired motor function in early childhood not only limits children’s motor experience but also affects memory, categorical thinking, and information processing. The study has been published in Frontiers in Psychology.

Shared environment, shared mechanisms: comparing pathways to mental health outcomes among indigenous youth and youth with other ethnic backgrounds
Arina Bukina, Eritsyan K., Antonova N. et al., Frontiers in Psychology 2026 Vol. 17 Article 1824428
Background:  Numerous studies have shown that indigenous populations experience poorer health outcomes compared to people with other backgrounds. However, the interpretation of these disparities remains challenging due to differences in living conditions and social environments, as well as by potential measurement-related biases. Little is known about whether the underlying mechanisms of mental health outcomes differ between ...

Development of a self-regulated learning scenario scale with holistic and specific answer options
Antipkina I., Kavalchuk I., Ludlow L., Quality and Quantity 2026 P. 1–24
In this study, we (1) test whether a single vignette item can be used as a stimulus for several questions referring to different vignette aspects; (2) explore the development of vignette items so that they could be comprehended holistically. The Rasch-Guttman Scenario Scale (RGSS) methodology was used to develop a questionnaire on self-regulated learning (SRL). ...

Klenitskiy A., Anna Volodkevich, Pembek A. et al., ACM Transactions on Recommender Systems 2026
Sequential recommender systems are an important and in-demand area of research. These systems aim to use the order of interactions in a user’s history to predict future interactions. The premise is that the order of interactions and sequential patterns play an essential role. Therefore, it is crucial to use datasets that exhibit a sequential structure ...

Ингалс Д., Пути России. Журнал cоциальных и этнографических исследований 2024 Т. 2 № 3 С. 128–157
Many sociologists drink wine, but hardly any write about it, at least for professional purposes. Sociological studies of wine are few in number, even in historically wine-producing countries, and wine matters remain ceded to other disciplines. The scholarly field of the ‘sociology of wine’ remains inchoate. Yet wine is an eminently sociological research object. This ...

In the rapidly evolving domain of Recommender Systems (RecSys), new algorithms frequently claim state-of-the-art performance based on evaluations over a limited set of arbitrarily selected datasets. However, this approach may fail to holistically reflect their effectiveness due to the significant impact of dataset characteristics on algorithm performance. Addressing this deficiency, this paper introduces a novel ...
