How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Scientists Train Neural Network to Generate Process Plans from 3D Models
Researchers at the HSE FCS AI and Digital Science Institute have developed CAD2TechSpec, a framework that converts 3D models of mechanical parts into machining process plans—step-by-step instructions for machine tools. The solution aims to reduce the time required for the design and preparation of technical process documentation in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and other high-tech industries. The study findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science.

Employability Problems of Higher Education Institutions Graduates: Belarus in Focus of EHEA Indicators

Employability problems of higher education institutions graduates are in focus of European countries education policy and especially of Bologna members states, which track pan-European trends and countries’ specifics based on expert analysis of education development by key indicators. With Belarus admission to Bologna, we have the possibility to look at graduates’ employability problems analyzed by correspondent EHEA indicators as well as in cross-country perspective. This  study presents the opinion based on The European Higher Education Area in 2018. Bologna Process Implementation Report (Report – 2018), Advisory Group 2 final report ‘ Support for the Belarus Roadmap’ (AG2), Education at a Glance analytical review (EG) as well as on the available official statistics data and on results of official and independent experts studies.

Elasticity of real wages with respect to unemployment is measured  for Russia. The estimates are compared to those obtained for a sample of advanced and  transition countries by other authors. In order to make our conclusions more robust 3  different specifications are used to construct ‘wage Phillips curve’. One model draws  on data by region, two others draw on country-wide series. We find that regardless of  the econometric specification real wage elasticity in Russia exceeds by far elasticity in  all (or almost all) other countries for which comparable estimates are available. This  evidences that high wage flexibility is an important salient feature of the Russian labor  market. We  obtain  thus  an  explanation  to  the ...
