Глава 5.1. Продолжительность жизни и смертность в мегаполисах
This monograph summarizes the results of a cross-disciplinary study of social, economic, demographic, environmental and climatic processes in Russian and foreign megalopolises. The authors described emerging and evolving megalopolises, their role,in spatial development of Russia, specific features of development of labor market and personal income, state management on federal and municipal levels, city budgets, importance of green economy, ecosystem services, and changing living standards. A diverse array of indicators including spatial, environmental, and road transportation network indicators were used to describe the environmental conditions, conflicts and risks associated with the development of Russian and foreign megalopolises. A separate section of the monograph is devoted to climate-related issues, bioclimatic indicators, waves of heat and cold, and action plans designed for adaptation to the negative impacts of climate change. Having compared the long time series of demographic indicators in Russian and foreign megalopolises the authors identified similarities and differences among the trends in demography.
