At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Improved Performance of Organic Star-Shaped Molecule Solar Cells with SiO2 Nanoparticles Embedded in a Buffer Layer

Moscow University Physics Bulletin. 2018. Vol. 73. No. 6. P. 678–682.
Vladimirova Yu.V., Mannanov A. L., Zadkov V.N., Song F.

The effect of spherical SiO2 nanoparticles of 20 to 80 nm in diameter embedded into the PEDOT: PSS buffer layer of organic solar cells (OSC) based on star-shaped oligomers on their efficiency was studied experimentally in detail. Measurements and analysis of the current-voltage characteristics of the samples, their absorption spectra and study of the morphology of the surface of the buffer layer with embedded nanoparticles were carried out. It is shown an increase in the OSE efficiency for the case of embedded into the PEDOT:PSS layer SiO2 nanoparticles with a diameter of 20 and 50 nm, which slightly depends on the concentration of the nanoparticles in the buffer layer.

Sandpile Cellular Automata with Manna Rule on the Chung-Lu Graph: Application to X Social Network
Dmitriev A., Kornilov V., Batienkov R., Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering 2026 Vol. 886 P. 249–255
Numerous studies have provided compelling evidence that the probability distribution of avalanche sizes follows a power law, and that 1/f noise is present in the stochastic dynamics of landslides. We present a theoretical explanation of these phenomena within the framework of self-organized criticality theory, proposing a discrete-time model in the form of a sandpile cellular ...

Sandpile Cellular Automata with Manna Rule on the Chung-Lu Graph: Application to X Social Network
Dmitriev A., Shulman I., Lebedev A., Studies in Computational Intelligence 2026 Vol. 1265 P. 266–273
A discrete-time model is presented for the self-organization of the X/Twitter social network to the edge of a phase transition, characterized by avalanche-like propagation of information in the network. The model is based on the analogy between the critical dynamics of the X social network and sandpile cellular automata with Manna rule on the Chung-Lu ...

Arutyunov K., Kharitonov I. A., Petrosyants K. O., JETP Letters 2026 Vol. 124 No. 6 P. 1–16
Superconducting properties of metallic micro- and nanowires can be entirely different from those of bulk superconductors. Of particular interest is the nonequilibrium current-induced state of a quasi-one-dimensional superconducting channel. The most interesting phenomenon here is the stepped I–V characteristic, explained by a process known as phase slip center activation. If the origin of such step-like ...

When universal machine learning models fail in capacitance prediction for carbon-based supercapacitors: Leakage-aware validation and electrolyte screening
Makarov D. M., Kalikin N., Fashchevsky K. A. et al., Electrochimica Acta 2026 Vol. 579 Article 150159
Machine learning (ML) has become a powerful tool for accelerating the development of carbon-based supercapacitors; however, most published models assume that a single predictive framework can describe both conventional porous carbons and hybrid carbon electrodes. Here, we test this assumption using a comprehensive benchmark dataset and an extended literature-curated dataset enriched with synthesis- and electrolyte-related descriptors. Three ML algorithms ...

Махлуф М., Ozhegov R., Elezov M. et al., Фотоника 2026 Vol. 20 No. 6 P. 414–423
This paper compares the ranging precision of direct time-of-flight (dToF) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) LiDAR architectures, both using a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD). Both systems operate at 1550 nm with a 50 ps pulsed laser and time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC). The dToF configuration achieved approximately 100 µm precision at 10 m, while the NLOS configuration achieved 500 µm precision for ...

The behavior of silver nitrate in non-aqueous liquid oligomeric media—aromatic and aliphatic diglycidyl ethers and aliphatic diamine—hasbeen investigated. By employing UV–visible spectrophotometry and dynamic light scattering, it has been shown that in diglycidyl oligomers, regardless of the nature of the monomeric unit, the formation of silver nanoparticles occurs, and the kinetics of this process has been ...

Kuznetsov P. M., Martynov I. V., Zhidkov I. S. et al., Journal of Materials Chemistry A 2023 Vol. 11 No. 16 P. 9019–9028
Widespread practical application of organic solar cells requires their long-term operational stability, a prerequisite which has not yet been achieved. Achieving long device lifetimes depends on the availability of intrinsically stable absorber materials and a thorough understanding of their degradation pathways; both of these aspects are still insufficiently explored. In this work, we present a ...

Coupled-oscillator model for hybridized optical phonon modes in contacting nanosize particles and quantum dot molecules
Koniakhin S., Utesov O., Yashenkin A., Physical Review Research 2023 Vol. 5 No. 1 Article 013153
Modification of optical phonon spectra in contacting nonpolar nanoparticles compared to single particles is studied. Optical phonons in dielectric and semiconducting particles obey the Euclidean metric Klein-Fock-Gordon equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions. This equation is supposed to be solved numerically for manifolds of cojoined spheres. It is proposed to replace this problem with the simpler-to-solve ...
