‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

L.: Routledge, 2022.
This volume provides novel social-scientific and historical approaches to religious identifications in late antique (3rd–12th century) Egyptian papyri, bridging the gap between two academic fields that have been infrequently in full conversation: papyrology and the study of religion. Through eleven in-depth case studies of Christian, Islamic, “pagan,” Jewish, Manichaean, and Hermetic texts and objects, this book ...

In this chapter, I discuss an epigraphic monument from early fifth-century Constantinople – a porphyry obelisk set up at a strategic point in the cityscape with a series of Greek versified inscriptions. The idea of royal charism sometimes took quite paradoxic forms on the Christian East. It was due to the fact that the Christian East was constructed of several cultural and religious clusters, and each of them developed its idea. Syriac world had an ideal model of the true king, and that was Alexander. His image ...

Singers Silently Speaking: Psalmists in Inscriptions from Late Antique Middle Egypt (Bawit)
Avdokhin A., Journal of Early Christian Studies 2021 Vol. 29 No. 4 P. 607–636
Personal agency and social microhistory of hymn-writing and singing in late antiquity have been mostly neglected in the study of Christian liturgy. In this article, I approach the question of social and administrative standing of "singers of psalms" in monastic communities in late antique Egypt through the study of their epigraphic (self-)representation. I focus on ...
