Особенности обучения иностранным языкам на уровне магистратуры
The article aims at considering the opportunities to enhance the quality of teaching foreign languages to Master students; outlining their characteristics as participants of the educational process; analyzing the requirements for developing professional intercultural communicative competence of Master’s graduates; defining conditions of foreign language learning at Master’s level from the perspective of general pedagogy and language pedagogy. It is stated in the article that Master students, as participants of the educational process compared to Bachelor students, possess greater maturity, experience, independence and motivation for professional and personal development, as well as a diverse language learning background, various needs and priorities. According to the new Federal State Educational Standards, for Humanities in particular, English is an integral part of all competences of future specialists: universal, general and specific professional competences. It is outlined in the article that today we are witnessing serious changes in the status of English as a discipline and in the way we teach this discipline to Master students. English is becoming a systemic discipline at the Master’s level. All above mentioned changes result in the need to create new, more efficient approaches to TEFL to Master students. It is claimed that a new approach to TEFL to Master students should be implemented – the one that makes it possible to integrate the development of students’ universal and professional skills into the process of English language learning. In order to achieve this goal, the following general pedagogy and language pedagogy requirements should be taken into consideration: focus on developing students’ universal and general professional competences and teaching English as a systemic discipline. Implementation of this approach should contribute to developing English language university course that complies with current requirements for developing Master degree graduates’ professional intercultural communicative competence.
