Après la publication consacrée à la mobilisation financière pendant la Grande guerre (2015) et celle centrée sur le désordre des finances publiques en temps de guerre (2016), ce troisième volume entend se pencher sur l’appel à la fiscalité. L'ouvrage poursuit l'étude comparée du financement de la Grande Guerre par les différents pays belligérants. Le patriotisme financier, qui s'est manifesté lors des emprunts, s'est-il prolongé dans un consensus autour de l'impôt ou bien s'est-il conjugué avec des résistances, voire le développement de fraudes, face l'augmentation des contributions fiscales ? Dans ce volume, l'analyse comparative des effets de l'élévation de la fiscalité dans les pays européens nourrit la réflexion historique et permet de tracer là encore des similitudes et des différences parfois inattendues entre les territoires.
