HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

Выбор стандарта беспроводной связи для нательной системы захвата движения

С. 328–335.
Petukhov A. A.

Human interaction with the virtual environment remains one of the problems when introducing virtual (VR) and Augmented (AR) technologies in such areas as education, industry, medicine, games, and other areas. In this paper, a description of the human motion capture system that serves as a human-computer interface for VR and AR applications is given. Comparative analysis of wireless communication standards and modeling of the 802.15.4-based motion capture system were conducted. IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.15.1 Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4, and IEEE 802.15.6 standards are considered.

Hemodynamic Response Asymmetry During Motor Imagery in Stroke Patients: A Novel NIRS-BCI Assessment Approach
Isaev M., Pavel Bobrov, Olesya Mokienko et al., Sensors 2025 Vol. 25 No. 16 Article 5040
Understanding patterns of interhemispheric asymmetry is crucial for monitoring neuroplastic changes during post-stroke motor rehabilitation. However, conventional laterality indices often pose computational challenges when applied to functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) data due to the bidirectional hemodynamic responses. In this study, we analyze fNIRS recordings from 15 post-stroke patients undergoing motor imagery brain-computer interface training across ...

Petrov I., Мониторинг общественного мнения: Экономические и социальные перемены 2025 № 6 С. 110–131
The proliferation of misinformation online has compelled social media platforms to develop effective countermeasures. This study investigates user perceptions of different interface warning labels, using anti-vaccine content as an example. The research focuses on the social network «VKontakte» (VK), a major platform in the Russian-speaking internet segment that has previously experimented with such labels. We ...

Maksimenkova O. V., Сегал А. П., Вопросы философии 2025 № 10 С. 67–76
The study is devoted to the humans and artificial intelligence (AI) interaction. The authors view this interaction as mediated by interfaces that both simplify it and hide the real mechanisms of encoding and decoding messages (according to Shannon). In such a situation, the characteristics of the actor of communication are blurred, and it is not ...

Khromov I., Voskov L., Mikhail Komarov, Applied Sciences (Switzerland) 2025 Vol. 15 No. 8 Article 4126
Intrabody communication (IBC) establishes a wireless connection between devices in a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) by utilizing the human body as a transmission medium. The characteristics of the IBC channel are significantly influenced by the geometric and biological features of the human body and tissues. This paper analyzes a dataset with experimental real subjects’ ...
