Antike und Klassizismus -- Winckelmanns Erbe in Russland / Древность и классицизм: наследие Винкельмана в России

Die Jubiläen zu Johann Joachim Winckelmann 2017 und 2018 im Blick, die sich um den 300. Geburtstag und den 250. Todestag ranken, ist die Winckelmann-Gesellschaft seit Jahren bemüht, ein solches Doppeljubiläum langfristig mit Partnern anzudenken und Kontakte mit Freunden und Kollegen in Museen und Instituten sowie Universitäten zu knüpfen. Ein wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkt unseres Bandes zielte auf die europäische Wirkung und Rezeption Winckelmanns in der Wissenschafts-, Kultur-, Kunst- und Bildungsgeschichte des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts. Denn es ist durch zahlreiche Forschungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich geworden, dass Winckelmanns Ideen ihn zum Wegbereiter des Klassizismus in Europa und Mittel- wie Nordamerika machten. Er war im besten Sinne ein Europäer, publizierte in deutscher, aber auch in italienischer und französischer Sprache, gehörte mehreren europäischen Akademien bzw. Gesellschaften an und führte Korrespondenzen mit europäischen Persönlichkeiten aus Wissenschaft, Kunst und Politik.
