Ich denke, dass die Epoche der Aufklärung längst zu einer Tatsache unseres Bewusstseins geworden ist. Sie ist für uns eine große Epoche, wie andere auch, etwa wie die Antike und die Renaissance. All diese Epochen gehören zur spirituellen Erfahrung der Menschheit. In Was ist Aufklärung? formuliert Immanuel Kant Ideen, die die Zeit ihrer Entstehung überdauert haben. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Vorstellung, die künftige Menschheit werde sich nach dem Vorbild der europäischen Zivilisation entwickeln.
