фМРТ-исследование чтения предложений: эффект контрольного условия
С. 158–164.
The present study aimed to compare different control conditions for the sentence-reading fMRI paradigm. Three types of control conditions were used: pseudowords, simplified pseudowords, and syllables. The results show that the use of every control condition failed to reveal reliably reproducible activation within the inferior frontal gyrus. On the other hand, the use of syllables as a control condition allowed the identification of posterior language regions within the temporal lobe, activation within this region being significant and reproducible.

Background: Motor imagery (MI) is the mental performance of movement without muscle activity. It is generally accepted that MI and motor performance have similar physiological mechanisms.
Purpose: To investigate the activity and excitability of cortical motor areas during MI in subjects who were previously trained with an MI-based brain-computer interface (BCI).
Subjects and Methods: Eleven healthy volunteers ...

In modern scientific literature, two interrelated but functionally different components of the Theory of Mind (ToM) are distinguished. The perceptual component is related to the recognition of mental states on the basis of directly perceived signals (facial expressions, intonation). The cognitive component is based on inferences and the processing of contextual information. In this study, ...

The theory of systemic and dynamic localization of higher mental functions by Lev Vygotsky and Alexander Luria was based on the data obtained via an original method, syndrome analysis of deficits of higher mental functions in patients with local brain injury. When this theory was being constructed, technical methods for brain investigation were only in ...

To avoid post-neurosurgical language deficits, intraoperative mapping of the language function in the brain can be complemented with preoperative mapping with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The validity of an fMRI “language localizer” paradigm crucially depends on the choice of an optimal language task and baseline condition. This study presents a new fMRI “language localizer” ...

Although the neural systems supporting interoception have been outlined in general, the exact processes underlying the integration of visceral signals still await research. Based on the predictive coding concept, we aimed to reveal the neural networks responsible for the bottom-up (stimulus-dependent) and top-down (model-dependent) processing of interoceptive information. In a study of 30 female participants, we utilized ...

Brain mapping is a complex scientific and practical challenge. One of the most important non-invasive methods of brain mapping is functional MRI (fMRI). FMRI has some limitations because of false positive BOLD-signal changes in region-of-interest draining veins. We can localize veins and venules after fMRI brain mapping, for example with MR-sequence Susceptibility Weighted Imaging (SWI; ...

To date, hampered physiological function after exposure to microgravity has been primarily attributed to deprived peripheral neuro-sensory systems. For the first time, this study elucidates alterations in human brain function after long-duration spaceflight. More specifically, we found significant differences in resting-state functional connectivity between motor cortex and cerebellum, as well as changes within the default ...
