Development of a Fiber-Optic Angular Displacement Recorder
The article discusses the problem of constructing
a mathematical model of a fiber-optic recorder designed to
measure the angles of inclination of a reflecting surface. The
model is based on geometrical relations between the
transmitting and receiving fibers and takes into account the
surface rotation angle, beam output coordinates and conditions
of signal registration by the photodetector. A numerical
simulation of the dependence of the output signal on the
distance between the fiber end and the reflecting surface at a
fixed tilt angle, as well as on the tilt angle at a fixed distance
has been carried out. The modeling results are compared with
the experimental data, and the discrepancy does not exceed
7.1%. A calibration method is proposed to ensure the
reproducibility of the transfer characteristic when the
reflective properties of the surface change. The design of the
measuring device was developed, the signal conversion scheme
was realized and experimental measurements were carried out,
which confirmed the possibility of registering angles in the
range of ±7° with an error of no more than 1.5%.
