The article is devoted to the study of the innovative infrastructure of Russian universities. The importance of developing innovative infrastructure, the practice of their formation (using the example of the country's leading universities) is studied. A classification of infrastructure objects is given and the effectiveness of their use in the practice of Russian universities is assessed. The study allows us to identify areas for improving the innovation policy of universities and ensure their contribution to achieving Russia's national goals. The most important problem remains the lack of transparency of legal norms relating to certain types of innovative infrastructure objects. Such categories as accelerators, business incubators and scientific and technical centers, although used in focus group universities, do not have precise legal registration. Their functional purpose remains vague, which complicates the work of supervisory authorities and reduces the quality of services provided.
