Стратегические способности как драйвер конкурентоспособности российских и международных компаний
Competitiveness is a key indicator of success at the national, industrial, and firm levels. This study aims to identify the strategic capabilities that underpin the competitiveness of companies operating in the Russian market. The theoretical framework of the concept of strategic capabilities is examined, and their role in enhancing company competitiveness through the reinforcement of competitive advantages is highlighted. The research methodology is based on a review of leading publications by international and Russian scholars over the past three decades. The empirical part of the study explores the strategic capabilities of 30 Russian and international companies operating in the Russian market, with a focus on their similarities and differences. The findings reveal that domestic Russian companies concentrate on developing a single strategic capability, whereas Russian exporting companies pursue a more differentiated approach by simultaneously cultivating a broader range of strategic capabilities. In contrast, international companies prioritize the development of a wider yet balanced portfolio of strategic capabilities. The principal strategic capabilities identified in the Russian market include employee professionalism, quality control, innovation and proprietary technologies, corporate brand and reputation, understanding of consumer specifics, customer orientation, and flexibility. The results offer practical implications and can serve as a basis for Russian companies seeking to enhance their competitiveness both domestically and in new foreign markets.
