Эволюция канадской модели федеративных отношений
The paper is devoted to the consideration of the Canadian model of federalism in its historical retrospect. The author consistently analyzes the main reference points and stages of the formation of Canadian federalism. Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of the regulatory framework governing federal relations in Canada: The British North America Act of 1867, The Constitution Act of 1982, etc. Moreover, the author draws attention to the challenges faced by Canadian federalism. Among such challenges, separatist sentiments in the province of Quebec pose the greatest danger to the unity of the federation. The author makes a conclusion about the decentralized nature of the Canadian federative model, which is confirmed by both constitutional provisions and scientific papers. In addition, the author identifies the main reasons for the decentralized nature of the federation, among which ethno-linguistic dualism, economic and geographical factors play an important role. The author also points out that the degree of (de)centralization of the federative model has not been constant throughout Canadian history.
