Currently, the territories of advanced socio-economic development are one of the methods for the development of both individual (including depressed) territories and the economy of Russia as a whole. Due to the fact that the territories of advanced socio-economic development are a complex structured system, in some aspects their functionality and features coincide with such forms of industrial relations development at the regional level as special economic zones and industrial parks there is a need to monitor and evaluate their activities and effectiveness. The paper presents a general characteristic of the territories of advanced socio-economic development, considers methods to assess the effectiveness of their functioning, on the basis of the analysis of regulatory acts and publications on the topic of work the conclusion about the importance of the territories of advanced socio-economic development for the regional economy is formulated.
