Toward the Design of Mathematics Courses for Computer Game Developers
Training specialists in the field of computer games development is gaining popularity all over the world. At the same time, along with the long-established education direction of game designers training, technical directions of training such as programming, software engineering, etc. are also appearing. Thus, the teaching of fundamental technical disciplines such as mathematics and physics is becoming increasingly relevant.
A brief literature review shows that current educational books on the mathematics of computer games overlook modern applied problems. This paper aims to identify the essential mathematical requirements for computer game development.
The authors assume to use a comprehensive approach and analyze the features of video game development studios from the point of view of the specialists involved and the mathematical background necessary for their work. As a result, the main mathematical disciplines and their minimum requirements are identified. This systematization helps to formulate learning outcomes, prerequisites and detailed mathematical content of computer game programs for different levels.
