We propose a new cryothermal setup for testing and comparison fiber optic tilt sensors in extremely-low temperature conditions. The setup makes possible simulating the required temperature conditions, investigating fiber optic tilt sensors accuracy characteristics and tracing trends of the sensors operation when ambient temperature decreases to critical low values.

The paper is devoted to the tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG)-assisted fiber refractometer. A novel math-ematical method for the automatic analysis of its signal is proposed. A change in the refractive indexis associated with a hange in the cut-off wavelength, which is determined from the envelopes of thesensor’s transmission spectrum. Distinctive features of the proposed approach ...

We report the latest results on inscribing extended fibre Bragg grating (FBG) arrays upon fibre drawing, obtained at the Kotelnikov Institute of Radioengineering and Electronics of RAS. The properties of these structures are considered, and examples of their application in sensor systems of microwave dense wavelength multiplexing and as a basis for designing single-frequency fibre ...

We report the results of studying the influence of fibre diameter on the accuracy and resolution of fibre refractive index sensors based on tilted Bragg gratings – a key element used to develop high-precision fibre sensors for environmental monitoring. A comparative study is performed using one of universal processing algorithms based on spectral envelope analysis. ...

Fiber optic sensors are applied in industry, remote sensing, environmental monitoring and healthcare. A special place is occupied by tilted fiber Bragg gratings, which can significantly expand the capabilities provided by standard Bragg sensors. But these gratings have complex spectral responses, therefore, data processing becomes a critical task for achieving maximum performance. In this paper, ...

We experimentally demonstrate a quantum receiver based on the Kennedy scheme for discrimination between two phase-modulated weak coherent states. The receiver is assembled entirely from standard fiber-optic elements and operates at a conventional telecom wavelength of 1.55 μm. The local oscillator and the signal are transmitted through different optical fibers, and the displaced signal is ...

It is shown that tailored breaking of the translational symmetry through weak scattering in waveguides and optical fibers can control chromatic dispersions of the individual modes at any order; thereby, it overcomes the problem of coherent classical and quantum signal transmission at long distances. The methodology is based on previously developed quantum control techniques and ...

Perspective methods of information transfer in optical communication channels based on the latest achievements of quantum physics are considered. In the near future these methods can solve both the problem of creating an optical channel conducting with physically unlimited bandwidth, and the problem of secretly transferring information in a fiber-optic information channel. The results of ...
