This article examines the use of the implicit potential of conceptual metaphor as a means of linguistic creativity, using narratives from contemporary English-language discourses about pregnancy as an example. Not all information in the conceptual field of the source domain is reflected in language, and it is precisely these aspects that represent linguistic creativity.
