Структурная модель концепта HAPPINESS в современных произведениях англоязычной подростковой литературы: компаративный анализ
The article examines the structure of the concept of happiness in contemporary English-language young adult literature based on the novels “The Poet X” by Elizabeth Acevedo, “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio and “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie. Using the structural model developed by Z.D. Popova and I.A. Sternin, the author conducts a comprehensive analysis of the concept’s figurative component, informational content, and interpretative field in each work. The comparative analysis reveals both common features in the representation of happiness (connection with self-acceptance, opposition to external values, evolution of the concept) and specific characteristics determined by the novels’ themes. The research demonstrates that contemporary young adult literature reconsiders traditional notions of happiness toward authenticity, self-realization, and acceptance of individual characteristics. The results expand the understanding of the transformation of the emotional conceptosphere in modern culture and can be used in further studies of emotional concepts.
