This article attempts to reconstruct the key points of Ernst Bloch’s philosophy of religion within the broader context of his Marxist philosophy through an analysis of his two principal works on the subject –«The Principle of Hope» and «Atheism in Christianity». The author concludes that Bloch’s philosophy of religion can be cha-racterizedas postsecular. It presents an alternative approach to understanding reli-gion that, on one hand, moves beyond orthodox Marxist rejection of religion, while on the other, highlights religion’s enduring transformativepotential for utopian thought.

The article examines the history of Nikolai Berdyaev’s relationship with Marxism. Although this topic has been studied well, existing research predominantly relies on Berdyaev’s own discourse. The problem is further complicated by the fact that Berdyaev changed his position on Marxism, and by the ambiguity of the concept of “Marxism” itself. The article demonstrates that ...
