Прошлое как символический ресурс для воображения будущего: на примере выступлений депутатов Государственной Думы Федерального Собрания Российской Федерации VIII созыва
The future is an integral and strategically important component of public political communication. At the same time, attempts to represent the future face the problem of its fundamental uncertainty, the degree of which increases in the context of a special military operation. Nevertheless, even in such conditions, politicians are forced to talk about the future. Analyzing representations of images of the future in the discourse of State Duma deputies, the author identifies the possibilities and limitations of using past events as a symbolic resource for constructing images of the future. The source of empirical data for the study is the transcripts of the plenary sessions of the State Duma of the VIII convocation from the 2nd to the 7th sessions. The author analyzes the data using qualitative content analysis, as well as semantic analysis of statements, noting the discursive strategies of using the past to imagine the future. The study concludes that the 1990s, the Soviet era, and the Great Patriotic War perform different but complementary functions in parliamentary discourse, acting as symbolic resources used to construct images of the future. It should be noted that the practices of using the past in the discourse of deputies run counter to the traditional thematic repertoire of the politics of memory of the ruling elites in Russia. The 1990s period in the discourse of deputies acts as the «most convenient tool» used to construct images of the future and overcome its uncertainty in the modern context.
