От экранов к бессоннице: как цифровые стрессоры связаны с характеристиками сна россиян?
Background. Studying the relationships between digital stressors and sleep characteristics is important for developing effective prevention and support strategies in the context of information overload and digital activity of contemporaries.
Objective. The aim of the study was to examine the relationships between digital stressors and sleep characteristics (its quality and duration, taking sleeping pills, bedtime and time spent falling asleep).
Study design. The data was collected through an online survey using the Yandex.Toloka platform.
Participants. The study involved 1008 respondents, including 436 men and 572 women aged 18 to 80 years (M = 38.3; Me = 36; SD = 11.4).
Measurements. The questionnaire contained a number of questions about sleep characteristics, as well as the Cyberchondria Severity Scale (CSS), the Doomscrolling Scale (DS), and the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS).
Results. Data analysis showed that respondents with higher rates of cyberchondria, mind-scrolling, and social media addiction reported lower sleep quality, more frequent use of sleeping pills, more time spent falling asleep, and shorter sleep duration.
Conclusions. The results emphasize the need to develop digital hygiene strategies, as well as conduct educational programs on digital literacy, introduce practices of conscious use of technology and support specialists in the field of psychology and medicine to comprehensively manage digital habits and minimize their impact on health and psychoemotional state.
