This expert-analytical report presents the results of a study of the fields of application of video games for constructive purposes with positive value for society. The report describes the phenomenon of "useful games", which today is one of the key trends in the scientific study of games and the development of the gaming industry. The report includes a description of educational games, video games that influence the worldview of players and social changes, and video games in the context of esports. An important part of the report is the Almanac of Useful Games, which includes descriptions of useful games mentioned in the text. The report is the first issue in a series published by the HSE's Flagship Center for Game Education Technology Research.
