Эволюция исламского банкинга в России: опыт Ак Барс Банка

The article examines the characteristics of the development of the Islamic finance market in Russia by analyzing the experience of Ak Bars Bank. It focuses on the history of Ak Bars Bank, its main Shariah-compliant products and services, including Islamic mortgages, investment funds and corporate solutions. The paper examines the specifics of the legal regulation of Islamic banking in Russia, in particular the impact of the experimental legal regime introduced in September 2023 on the development of partnership (Islamic) finance. It analyses how these changes have affected Ak Bars Bank’s operations and the market. Particular attention is paid to identifying challenges such as tax barriers and a lack of qualified personnel, as well as geopolitical challenges that limit international cooperation under sanctions. The article also discusses the prospects for the expansion of Islamic banking in Russia, highlighting the need to further improve legislation and strengthen cooperation with foreign partners. The study will be useful to academics, financial professionals and policymakers interested in the development of Islamic finance in Russia.
