Ethnocentrism studies in Russia and a Russian ethnocentrism measure

The chapter presents an overview of ethnocentrism studies in Russia and an empirical analysis of the scale of Russian ethnocentrism by Stadnikov (2005). A total of 202 people participated in the study. Russian participants ranged in age from 18 to 75 (M = 33.09, SD = 11.92). All of the participants were born and are the citizens of Russia, with 30% males (n = 60) and 70% females (n = 142). A random sample of data were collected through self-administered online questionnaires in 2020. The study employed a Russian ethnocentrism scale, containing 17 items (Stadnikov, 2005). Each item was rated from 1 ‘totally disagree’ to 5 ‘totally agree’. The scale has shown high reliability: Cronbach’s alpha = .72.
