Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Social Integration: At the Crossroads of Knowledge and Values
The International Laboratory for Social Integration Research (ILSIR) at HSE University studies the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and explores ways to help them participate fully in everyday life. To develop effective solutions, the laboratory’s researchers combine cutting-edge methods with practical fieldwork. In this interview with the HSE News Service, Laboratory Head Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova discusses the laboratory’s work.

Kak že kak že! Russian discourse formula of confirmation as a marker of recognition
Ekaterina Rakhilina, Bychkova P., , in: Constructions with lexical repetitions in East Slavic.: De Gruyter Mouton, 2024. P. 197–222.
The chapter presents a case study of the repetition mechanism within the development of discourse formulae, i.e., multi-word formulaic replies similar to yes and no. It closely examines the process of pragmaticalization in the Russian formula Kak že! (‘how part’) and its duplicated counterpart. The diachronic corpus data shows that the formula Kak že! emerged ...

God knows how it turns out: on three constructions including Bog ‘God’, čert ‘devil’ and some taboo words in the Russian language over the last three centuries
Budennaya E., Litvintseva K., Yakovleva A., Jazykovedny Casopis 2023 Vol. 74 No. 1 P. 19–31
The constructions with the anchor [Noun-Nom Verb (meaning ‘to know’)] are very productive in Russian. In this article we show that variables such as Bog ‘God’, čert ‘devil’ and xer/xren ‘X/horseradish’ have some common patterns, as well as some shifts with exclusive patterns in semantics and constructionalization. ...

Multilingual Pragmaticon: Database of Discourse Formulae
Buzanov A., Bychkova P., Molchanova A. et al., , in: Proceedings of the Thirteenth Language Resources and Evaluation Conference.: European Language Resources Association (ELRA), 2022. P. 3331–3336.
The paper presents a multilingual database aimed to be used as a tool for typological analysis of response constructions called discourse formulae (DF), cf. English ‘No way¡ or French ‘Ça va¡(‘all right’). The two primary qualities that make DF of theoretical interest for linguists are their idiomaticity and the special nature of their meanings (cf. ...

Towards pragmatic construction typology: The case of discourse formulae
Bychkova P., Rakhilina E. V., , in: Discourse phenomena in typological perspective.: John Benjamins Publishing Company, 2023. Ch. 3 P. 35–63.
This paper discusses the frame method developed by Moscow lexical typology group in application to pragmatic constructions, namely, discourse formulae (idiomatic answers like Fair enough or You bet!). The methods of data collection and analysis are illustrated with a case study of negative discourse formulae in four Slavic languages. The study shows how the field of negation is organized, and how answering strategies differ in ...

Свойства дискурсивных формул на примере русских конструкций ты что и что ты
Bychkova P., Русский язык в научном освещении 2020 № 2 (40) С. 88–111
The paper discusses semantic description of the so-called discourse formulae, idiomatic expressions used as speaker's reactions in a dialogue. They are considered in the framework of construction grammar, as a peripheral class of constructions with its specific properties. A case study of two synonymous Russian discourse formulae TY ČTO and ČTO TY provides an account ...

Defining discourse formulae: computational approach
Gerasimenko Ekaterina, Puzhaeva Svetlana, Zakharova Elena et al., , in: Proceedings of Third Workshop "Computational linguistics and language science"Issue 4.: Manchester: EasyChair, 2019. P. 61–69.
In this paper, we address the problem of automatic extraction of discourse formulae. By discourse formulae (DF) we mean a special type of constructions at the discourse level, which have a fixed form and serve as a typical response in the dialogue. Unlike traditional constructions [4, 5, 6], they do not contain variables within the ...
