The article is devoted to the formation of the terminological meaning of a commonly used word. The methodological basis of this process is the understanding of the system of terms as a form of knowledge representation at the mental and linguistic levels. The problem is considered within the framework of developing the concept of the content and structure of the dictionary of cognitive terms of the thesaurus type.
