Food as a “Silent Weapon”: Russia’s Food Security Strategy
Food security is one of the existential foundations of state and individual life. In the era of economic globalization and widespread of goods, food security does not always receive the attention it deserves. Now more than ever, the problem of food security is entwined with others – Covid-19 pandemic, global economic shocks and recession, climate crisis and armed conflicts. In this disposition the importance of Russia as a global actor in food security system is increasing, taking into account the role of the country as the major agrifood exporter (especially, wheat).
