Библейская лексика в переводах Вяч. Иванова из Эсхила
Vyacheslav Ivanov translated six of Aeschylus’ tragedies into Russian; four of them he translated completely and two translations he did not finish. The article considers compound nouns and adjectives in his translation of Aeschylus that have Christian and Biblical connotations and, being calques from Ancient Greek, belong to the Church Slavonic stratum. The author analyzes the monologue of Athena from the «Eumenides» (lines 903–915) and particularly the words «blagorastvoreniye», «chadorodiye», «vertogradar», «dobropobedniy» as well as the adjectives «smirennomudriy» and «blagovestniy» which occur in Ivanov’s translations of other tragedies. Special attention is given to Ivanov’s work «Dionysus and Predionysianism», since it sheds light on his interpretation of some passages from the tragedies.
