A new PVC detection method for long ECG recordings
The report is devoted to research and development of new ECG processing methods, based on Multicase Correlation Analysis approach, in particular, the development of new PVC (premature venricular complexes) detection method.
The IEEE BIBM 2018 promises to provide great scientific quality and to have a broad impact, with world renowned scientists as keynote speakers and invited speakers, contributed talks at a highly competitive acceptance rate, special issue publications in high-caliber scientific journals, and a broad participation of the research communities serving on the Program Committee and the organizing committees for workshops, tutorials, and posters. The scientific program highlights five themes to provide breadth, depth, and synergy for research collaboration: (1) genomics and molecular structure, function, and evolution; (2) computational systems biology; (3) medical informatics and translational bioinformatics; (4) cross-cutting computational methods and bioinformatics infrastructures, and (5) healthcare informatics, which includes approximately 20 topics.
A new stage in the development of alternative medicine, which has taken place since the health care system reforms of the 1990s and has not yet received sufficient understanding of the social scientists. The article attempts to explore this issue from the perspective of the sociology of professions. In the conceptual framework of the classical triangle «state – profession – market» the main trends of development of homeopathy as a profession are considered, and strategies of professionalization are outlined: «social closure», what used primarily by the proponents of classical school, and the «integration» shared by representatives of the clinical trend.
The article has two focal points. The first is understanding of «body turn» in the social sciences in the context of biomedical technologies’ development. During the XX century numerous social transformations, often called biomedicalization of society, actualized body issues for sociology. At the same time these conditions of actualization are poorly articulated and little known to researchers. Hence the first objective of this work — to show how the topic of biomedical technologies associates with sociology. According to this the article deals with significant events and changes in the field of medicine and genetics, and describes their impact on the various public institutions. The second focus of the article is the empirical one. It involves the study of social attitudes among the Russians regarding the use of biomedical technologies in everyday life. ISSEK mass survey allowed us to define the extent to which modern technological innovation can be perceived by people as part of their daily practices. Survey results demonstrate population’s cautious attitude to biomedical technologies, with a positive attitude to the technological advancements and IT-technologies. It suggests that invasive technologies concerning body modification through biomedical technologies have a special status in the public consciousness.
