Эволюция представлений о смерти на Западе в историко-антропологических концепциях Ф. Арьеса и М. Вовеля

С. 175-184.

This paper describes the evolution of the representations of death and the formation of approaches to studying the death as an historical phenomenon. Formed within the Annales School which promoted a new form of history, so called «the new history », anthropological approach provides an opportunity to better understand what the death was in history, considering it as an integral part of the collective psychology and of social and cultural systems throughout the ages. While reviewing the studies of Philippe Ariès and Michel Vovelle on the history of the ideas and attitudes toward the death in Western societies, we will focus on the difference between their methods and also we will examine their debates, which bring a major contribution to the development of this area of historical research.
